Hohensalzburg Fortress

While in Austria, I had the chance to visit two fortresses. This one has overlooked the city of Salzburg since the year 1077 and has never been conquered. It was built to protect the archbishop at the time and has since been the residence of other medieval princes, as well as providing military barracks and even a prison. You can reach it either by foot or funicular.
